Murfreesboro, Tennessee: Murfreesboro Medical Clinic, PA Murfreesboro Medical Clinics Employee Committee held a check presentation on the 12th of July for charitable organizations included in its Annual Hearts and Hands Program. The charities included Special Kids, the Rutherford County Chapter of the American Heart Association, the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of the American Red Cross, Rutherford County Domestic Violence Program, and the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Contributions to these organizations were made from funds raised in November 2010-July 2011.

The Clinics Employee Committee is compromised of a representative from each of the Clinics departments and they coordinate fundraisers throughout the year to help benefit local charities. Clinic employees select five charities or organizations to receive these funds each year through the Hearts and Hands Program. This year, the Employee Committee decided to also share some of the funds raised with victims of the 2010 Spring Floods that affected Rutherford County. A total of $22,335.00 for these organizations was raised in 2010/2011
.
Kimberly Smith, Murfreesboro Medical Clinics Director of Marketing, stated The spirit in which our employees choose to give back to the community is overwhelmingly generous. Not only do they sacrifice with the money they give from their pocket books, but they go beyond the walls of the Clinic to serve in our community by giving their time and resources. The MMC Employee Committee as well as the rest of our staff demonstrate our commitment to helping our community with both our hearts and hands.

We began this program several years ago in an effort to raise funds for those in need in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County, and surrounding areas, stated Joseph A. Peay, the Clinics Chief Executive Officer. By having organizations which are relevant and meaningful to our employees, the Hearts and Hands Committee is more successful in helping those in need, and we feel it is an honor to give back to our community.
