Chief Operating Officer

Denise McArthur Flanagan, CMPE, serves as Chief Operating Officer at Murfreesboro Medical Clinic & SurgiCenter, where she is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing operational activities across the Clinic’s 22 clinical departments, as well as its ancillary services and support departments.


Denise began her career at MMC in 1990 in the General Surgery Department. Since then, she has held a variety of leadership roles, including Administrative Assistant, Internal Medicine Department Manager, and Director of Operations, before being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in 2019. In May 2011, she earned the professional designation of Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) from the American College of Medical Practice Executives, the certification body of the Medical Group Management Association.


Denise attended Middle Tennessee State University and is an active member of the Medical Group Management Association. She is a nominee of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and a graduate of the 2007 Leadership Rutherford Class. She served on the Leadership Rutherford Council from 2007 to 2010 and spent seven years on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Heart of Tennessee Chapter.


Denise is married to Greg Flanagan, who retired after 33 years with the Murfreesboro Police Department and now enjoys selling real estate with Davis Home Group at Keller Williams. They have one child, Kaylee, and reside in the Lascassas community. The family are members of New Vision Baptist Church. In her free time, Denise enjoys spending time with family and friends on Center Hill Lake.
