Three Tips for Better Hearing

Murfreesboro Medical Clinic • May 24, 2019

As you may know, hearing is something that should be protected. Your mom or your dad always told you to cover your ears when a loud sound came your way for a reason. Hearing can be permanently damaged by loud noises if you are not careful. In recognition of Better Speech & Hearing Month, MMC Audiologist, Megan Shissler Au. D., CCC-A, gave us three tips for better hearing:

  1. Protect your ears:  MMC provides hearing protection, but you can easily find hearing protection over the counter.
  2.  Be careful about listening to music through headphones:  use the 60/60 rule, which means only 60 percent of your volume for no more than 60 minutes at a time.
  3. Always get regular checkups: ringing in the ears is the number one symptom of hearing loss. Schedule an evaluation today if you feel you may have this symptom.

There are always precautions that you can take to make surethat your hearing and the hearing of those around you is protected. Listen towhat your parents told you, and always protect your hearing.
