Murfreesboro Medical Clinic Invites Middle School Students to Learn More about Healthcare Careers through Camp M.D.

On Wednesday, June 27th, Murfreesboro MedicalClinic was proud to host over 20 middle school students participating in theBusiness Educations Partnership Foundation’s Camp M.D. program.
The Business Education Partnership Foundation (BEP) holdsCamp M.D. in the summer to introduce students to different careers in healthcare. The participating students have shown interest in the medical field, and are invited to tour local medical facilities and speak with healthcare professionals about various career opportunities.
Murfreesboro Medical Clinic opened its doors and invited these students to learn more about the facility and the medical professionals who work there. After an introduction to MMC and its 69 years of service to the community, students engaged in interactive discussion with multiple medical providers and professionals. Among those who spoke were: Nicholas Coté, D.O.(Internal and Family Medicine), Joy Derwenskus, D.O. (Neurology), R. Shannon Moran, M.D. (Pediatrics), Marcus Owen, M.D. (Rheumatology), Ken Mudd (Endovascular Lab) and Tereyo Cox (Lab Services).
During their time at MMC, students learned about the many different areas of focus and specialties within the medical field. They even discussed career opportunities in healthcare administration, an important part of any healthcare facility!

I love getting to interact with the future leaders of our community! They have bright, inquisitive minds and this is the best time to influence them to turn toward the sciences. I hope that they got a thorough enough introduction to medical sciences to cultivate their desire to become future leaders of Medicine.
