MMC's Employee Committee Donates to 3 Local Charities

Murfreesboro Medical Clinic’s Employee Committee oversees fundraising events and donations made throughout the year as part of its Hearts & Hands Program. Every year, MMC employees choose local organizations that will benefit from the charitable giving. In 2023, MMC was proud to support three local charities through its Hearts & Hands Programs. They were the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, Isaiah 117 House, and The MMC Foundations, Crystal Scholarship. Murfreesboro Medical Clinic is passionate about community involvement and giving back, which is why the Hearts & Hands project was formed. Through this project and the various fundraisers performed within the clinic family, MMC was proud to donate $4,172.33 to each of the three charities chosen for last year.

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center specializes in a wide array of vital healing and protective services including 24/7 crisis support, emergency shelter, sexual assault advocacy including onsite medical exams, counseling, and legal/court advocacy to all current or past victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking free of charge. Their mission is simple: to PROTECT victims, PREVENT violence, and EMPOWER survivors.

Isaiah 117 House is changing the way foster care begins. Isaiah 117 provides a comforting home where these children instead can be brought to wait – a place that is safe with friendly and loving volunteers who provide clean clothes, smiles, toys, and snuggly blankets. This space allows children to receive the comfort and care they need while child welfare staff can do the necessary paperwork and identify a good placement.

The Crystal Scholarship (MMC Foundation) was established by Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and the MMC Foundation to assist the children of MMC breast cancer patients in continuing their education beyond high school. The journey of a breast cancer patient is difficult. It not only affects the individual, but every member of the family as well. In honor of those families being affected by breast cancer, the Crystal Scholarship exists to offer support to those families and hope for the future.

Joey Peay, Chief Executive Officer of MMC, “Again this year, the physicians and staff of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic have opened their “Hearts and Hands” to benefit the people of Murfreesboro. Since we started this process many years ago, thousands of dollars have been raised to benefit local charities benefiting some of the most needy citizens in our community. It is truly my honor to be able to lead such a generous and compassionate group!”
